New Video Game Releases: March 14th – March 19th

Playstation fans, the wait is over.  God of War III is here.  GoW III marks the return of Kratos, Sony’s flagship character.  He’s back in an effort to climb Mount Olympus to slay the titans in this blood-soaked quest for revenge that ends with Zeus himself.  God of War III is only available for the PS3.  The jaw-dropping visuals and non-stop action will definitely move a lot of systems off shelves.  If you’re a PS3 owner, you will buy this game.  If you are not a PS3 owner, this is the game you will buy the console for.

Twenty three games in all this week, but even if you put the other twenty two of them together, they still wouldn’t equal the experience found in GoW III.

A Look Inside Stephen King’s American Vampire Comic Book

This Wednesday, Vertigo, an imprint of DC Comics, will release the first issue of American Vampire. The new series, illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque, will open with a five-issue arc that contains two 16-page stories: one by Scott Snyder and one by a rather more well-known name, Stephen King. The series will focus on a new breed of vampire through the lens of different eras in American history, above. Mr. Snyder will tell the story of Pearl, who is seeking fame in the jazz age, while Mr. King will focus on Skinner Sweet, the first American vampire who does not fear the sun. Mr. King’s involvement began when Mr. Snyder sent him the series pitch in the hopes of getting a blurb. “He wrote back saying he really liked it and would do a couple of issues if anyone would let him,” Mr. Snyder said.

True Blood Season 3 Premieres on Sunday, June 13th 2010 at 9PM ET/PT.

HBO’s hit vampire drama “True Blood” will begin the 12-episode run of its third season on Sunday, June 13th.

Cast changes for Season Three include the addition of Alfre Woodard and Kevin Alejandro (“Southland”) and the loss of Michelle Forbes.

The series, executive produced by Alan Ball and Gregg Fienberg, and starring Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Sam Trammell, is based on the series of novels by Charlaine Harris.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Release a New Two-Disc Greatest Hits Collection

The PlayStation Move

The PlayStation Move ($TBA) is bringing motion-based gaming to the PS3, in full 1080p glory. The system will use a main motion controller, a “sub-controller,” like a more advanced version of the Wii’s nunchuk, and the Playstation Eye camera to offer precise detection of movement, angle, and absolute position in 3D space, which should make for some really competitive games of Virtua Tennis.

The ball on the end of the main controller helps with motion tracking, lights up in different colors to notify you of stuff, and is made from a soft/squishy rubber material.
