Apple has released an all-new iPod shuffle with an audio-based navigation system called VoiceOver. Devoid of buttons save for the shuffle/straight/off switch and billed as “the world’s smallest music player,” the third-generation iPod shuffle uses VoiceOver to let users navigate through songs and playlists, all using the in-line remote control. VoiceOver can tell users the name of the song and artist, playlist information, and status information such as battery life. The new shuffle also features a stainless steel clip on the back for attaching to clothing. The new iPod shuffle comes in 4GB capacities only, and is available now in silver or black for $79.
“Imagine your music player talking to you, telling you your song titles, artists and playlist names,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPod and iPhone Product Marketing. “The amazingly small new iPod shuffle takes a revolutionary approach to how you listen to your music by talking to you, also making it the first iPod shuffle with playlists.”

Your favorite walk is down Main Street, U.S.A., and your heart skips a beat at the sight of the world’s most beloved mouse. You know the lyrics to every Disney song, and one of your favorite pastimes is wishing upon a star. You’re a fan of all things Disney, and up until now you’ve had no official community to share your passion for Disney, to celebrate timeless Disney stories and traditions with other fans. That all changed today when Disney President and CEO Bob Iger officially launched D23, the first official community for Disney fans.
Named in honor of the year 1923, when Walt left Kansas City, headed for Hollywood and founded what would become the Disney Studios, D23 gives Disney fans VIP access to all things Disney through this brand-new Web site; Disney twenty-three, the club’s beautiful quarterly magazine; and, in perhaps the most exciting news of all, the D23 Expo, a Disney fan mega event to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center this fall!
The fun all begins when you sign up for membership ($75). Members will receive a personalized membership card and a suitable-for-framing membership certificate featuring many of your favorite classic Disney characters from the hand of Disney Master Artist Dave Pacheco — the perfect one-of-a-kind collectible to adorn the walls of any fan’s room. Members will also receive a special gift from the Walt Disney Archives Collection, a new line of merchandise created especially for D23.
Membership includes a one-year subscription to Disney twenty-three, an all-new quarterly publication that no Disney fan can to do without! Not only will D23 offer an exciting yearlong schedule of magical, one-of-a-kind events — everything from advance screenings of Disney films to exclusive gatherings in Disney parks — but today’s announcement of the first-ever D23 Expo is sure to thrill Disney fans the world over. This year’s first-ever D23 Expo, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center across the street from Disneyland September 10–13, promises to be the “ultimate Disney fan experience,” Steven says. It will feature an all-star lineup of Disney Legends and contemporary visionaries representing every area of the Company who will lead fans down memory lane and draw back the curtain for an exclusive look at what’s coming next. “Look for celebrity appearances, interactive exhibitions, sneak peeks, film screenings, one-of-a-kind merchandise, a collectors’ forum and many other surprises still in the works,” Steven adds.
D23 community members — or anyone else for that matter — can head to this Web site for behind-the-scenes features, up-to-the-minute Disney news and the latest news from insiders from every part of the Company. The site builds on the content of twenty-three magazine by publishing behind-the-scenes features and interviews with Disney stars of today and from the past, the latest celebrity images and breaking news from every part of Disney. There’s also member-exclusive merchandise at Boutique 23, and even more exciting, this online experience will, for the first time ever, open the Walt Disney Archives to fans, sharing stories and treasures that previously only Disney employees and Cast Members could access.

Nothing beat Saturday morning cartoons when you were growing up.
That feeling of waking up early so you could sit cross-legged and transfixed on the TV for hours on end is hard to beat.
Anyway, cartoons are great. But, let’s face it, some of the cartoons and cartoon characters they used to inflict on us were just terrible. HERE are the cartoon characters which annoyed us the most.

Even though Rise of the Silver Surfer made some coin, the FF movies were pretty crappy. The casting was wrong, the stories were awful and the entire team dynamic just didn’t work on screen.
With The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Hulk and other super hero movies being put out that are actually well written pieces of entertainment, Fox is finally going to take a look at the Fantastic Four movies and completely reboot them from the ground up.
The two films previously released never really caught on with the fans and the studio is reportedly looking to completely retool, recast and recrew the franchise.
The franchise is looking to be “less bubble gum” this time round following the Iron Man template, which was a complete success in reviews and box office take but a bit darker when it came to its superhero. Iron Man was in no way as dark as The Dark Knight but was funny as well as a bit on the serious side.

In “Breakfast of Champion” Hank Willis Thomas and Ryan Alexiev are commenting on the iconization and consumerization of the President of the United States. The piece appropriates the religious imagery of Byzantine mosaics to create a sugar cereal image of President Obama. Does the election of Barack Obama symbolize a victory of substance over cynicism or of packaging over product? The sugary sweet mosaic, made of thousands of cereal bits, depicts idea of what a healthily balanced breakfast (democracy) might look like when considering the role that marketing plays in myth building around corporate and political brands.
Behold The LOST Time Loop Theory.
All of the “weird” things that we see happen in seasons 1 & 2 of LOST are a result of the Losties now existing in the year 1996 on the island. This is why Locke can walk, and why Rose is Healed — their bodies now exist in a time prior to them contracting their illnesses. This is also why some characters, such as Walt, have extraordinary perception — because they’re technically from the future.

Put aside those Pokeman or Bakugan cards kids, Topps is back with a vengeance in an attempt to woo Internet bred kids back into collecting baseball cards. Just hold the special 3D Live card in front of a webcam and watch a three-dimensional avatar spring to life — rotate the card and the figure rotates in full perspective. The technology provided by Total Immersion also allows collectors to drop the player into simple pitching, batting and catching games using the computer keyboard. Series 1 cards will cost $2 for a 12-pack while one dollar snags a fistful of five. The 3D Live series will eventually feature video.

As the story of Witch Mountain returns to movie theaters this year with the release of “Race to Witch Mountain,” the original films that launched the Witch Mountain saga, Escape to Witch Mountain and Return to Witch Mountain, are returning to DVD in special new editions from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Laying the groundwork for the new film starring Dwayne Johnson, the two family favorites first put the magical world of Witch Mountain onscreen, and featured such classic stars as two-time Academy Award winner Bette Davis (All About Eve, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?) , Academy Award winner Ray Milland (The Lost Weekend, Dial M For Murder), Christopher Lee (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy), Academy Award nominee Eddie Albert (Roman Holiday, TV’s “Green Acres”) and Donald Pleasance (You Only Live Twice, The Diary of Anne Frank.)
Long before Harry Potter and the Narnia movies, the Witch Mountain films created a world in which children learned to use their magical powers. In Escape to Witch Mountain, first released in 1975, orphaned siblings Tony and Tia Malone (Ike Eisenmann and Kim Richards) discover their paranormal powers and learn the truth about their origin; reviewing the film, Roger Ebert wrote, “something is happening all of the time, and most of the time it’s scary but funny, too.” In the 1978 sequel, Return to Witch Mountain, the Malone children recruit a band of juvenile delinquents to help them battle a pair of criminal masterminds played by Bette Davis and Christopher Lee, who Daily Variety called “one of the best Disney villains in years.” Both Eisenmann and Richards make cameos in the new “Race to Witch Mountain,” a modern re-imagining of the original Witch Mountain story featuring Dwayne Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, Carla Gugino, and Alexander Ludwig.
The new Walt Disney Family Classics DVD editions both contain extensive bonus features, including all new Pop-Up Fun Facts, filmmaker commentaries, and more. They will be available in stores on March 10, three days before the theatrical release of “Race to Witch Mountain.”

To celebrate the return of Cadbury’s Caramel Bunny, a Cadbury Dairy Milk survey found that 37 per cent of the 1,000 people questioned think Jessica Rabbit is the hottest cartoon around. Second place went to Betty Boop and third went to the Cadbury Bunny.
Others in the running were Cinderella, Wilma Flintstone, Snow White and Daphne from Scooby Doo.

Subterranean Press has just reached agreement with author, Peter Straub to publish the limited edition of his new novel, The Skylark. This edition will be several hundred pages longer than the trade hardcover which is due to be released later this summer.

All good things must come to an end. Older boxes are replaced in the cereal aisle to make room for the latest sugar-blasted flavor and snazzy box art. Click HERE for a tribute to the fallen warriors that made our Saturday mornings in front of the television a little more comforting.
Adam Kalkin isn’t the only architect to make homes out of shipping containers. A handful of architects, began using them ten years ago as a gritty reaction against the tidy white surfaces of modernism. But nobody has employed shipping containers more inventively than Kalkin, a New Jersey architect and artist who has used them to design luxurious homes, museum additions and refugee housing.
In architectural circles, Kalkin is regarded as something of an oddball. He began his talk at the Urban Center in New York Tuesday night by playing the first five minutes of a Jerry Lewis film, followed by the actor’s acceptance speech at the Academy Awards last month. His website includes lessons on hitting a tennis forehand and a selection of songs to sing after taking antidepressants. Years ago Kalkin shaved while delivering a lecture at the Whitney Museum.
His talk this week was tied to the publication of Quik Build: Adam Kalkin’s ABC of Container Architecture ($49.95), which shows 32 of his projects in all their odd ingenuity, including Bunny Lane, a home he built for himself with a 19th century clapboard cottage inside an industrial hanger, and the Push Button House, a furnished room that unfolds from a container with hydraulic walls.
For all his artsy provocations, Kalkin’s strategy makes some practical sense. After all, shipping containers are cheap, mobile and highly recyclable. The Kalkin project that puts these qualities to best use is the Quik House, a prefab home ($150 a square foot) made from six shipping containers that can be completed in three months. A smaller version, called the A Pod ($50,000), will be available later this year. Read more HERE.

Zynga has released a new iPhone game called Scramble Live (very similar to the game Boggle) that includes some interesting technology. They’ve already got a Facebook version up and running with over a million users and the new app will let you play against other users, on both the iPhone and Facebook, in real-time. There’s also a solo mode, as well as a “pass and play” version that you can use to play with people around you.
The game is on sale for $2.99 until March 9th, when it’ll jump back up to $4.99. If you’re a fan of the Facebook version and want to try out some cross-platform game play, give it a look.

Daylight saving time in most of the United States starts this year in the early hours of March 8. The “spring forward” marks the second time the country has observed the switch in March rather than April since changes to the system were adopted in 2007. Read more HERE.
